It is of great importance to keep your home safe. You have spent a great deal to make your home what it is. Today, we are going to learn how to make our homes safer with focus on electrical outlets. It is very important especially if we have toddlers in the house.
We know that small children are very curious about everything so there is a high risk of them putting something into a socket which is within their reach. To be on the safe side, you should have your electrical sockets installed more than 27 inches off the floor. It would also be a lot safer if no furniture can be used by a child to get close to an electrical outlet.
Also, avoid using extension cords. There's nothing wrong about using them but you run the risk of plugging in too much appliances into one extension cord. When that happens, the cord might get very hot especially if it is of inferior quality. To avoid using extension cords, try to have an electrical socket located about six inches away from the appliance.
For convenience, I suggest that you have your light switch by the door of a room. It is easier to turn on the light if you do not have to grope around in the dark for a minute or so before you find the light switch.
That's it for now guys. I'll be back soon for more.
